Junior Hockey 4 of 5

4. Junior Development

At Stone HC, our most important club aim is to increase hockey participation levels of young people within the local community and to support them in developing their game to whatever level they desire.

We provide a variety of weekly training opportunities run by highly-qualified coaches throughout the season alongside weekly playing opportunities in both competitive and development fixtures against other clubs.

To provide an effective player development programme to develop young players, we strive to ensure our development environment is designed to put the players needs at the centre of what we do. To do so, all our coaches aim to deliver sessions in both a fun and challenging way, so that your child will enjoy their time playing hockey but also develop to the best of their ability.

RARE Principles - Right Athlete Right Environment Principles are a set of principles set by GB Hockey to guide the process of developing young hockey players and something as a club that we endeavour to follow (see below documents).

We follow the GB Hockey Talent Development Framework to maximise the learning opportunities for your child to develop as a hockey player and as a person. This follows a set framework of technical, tactical, gameplay, physical and psychological skills which develop as they grow through our programme.

England Hockey Player Pathway - we love nothing more than to see our young players progress into adult teams at SHC but also into the EH Player Pathway, where they have the potential to progress right through to England Junior International Level. Over the past few years we have been fortunate enough to have many players at County level and a handful going on to play at regional level and be considered for England Selection.
