The JDS put in a fantastic shift on Saturday at Stafford 7s Tournament. The weather wasn't always the best but the kids kept playing with a smile on their face and produced some great performances. A lot of the team had not played on grass before and it was a good experience to learn some new techniques.
Lunchtime saw the JDS play Stafford juniors. Stafford juniors had 3 or 4 stand out players who were the focus point of their team. Stone JDS played some good hockey in the first half, with quick passing and good movement. Unfortunately grass hockey does not always suite this kind of play and Staffords long ball game mixed with individual dribbling suited the grass better and was the difference. Stone JDS will remember this loss and will look to avenge the loss in the coming months when the two teams play each other on the astro-turf.
The rest of the day saw the JDS participate in the 7s tournament and was definitely a worth while experience. All of the kids put in a brilliant shift and will hopefully take part in the Stafford 7s Tournament next year!
