Safeguarding and Welfare
The Welfare Officer is responsible for promoting the welfare, wellbeing and safety of all members of Stoney Hockey Club. They act as the club's designated safeguarding lead, ensuring compliance with England Hockey safeguarding policies and Staffordshire safeguarding procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the club's Designated Welfare Officer and safeguarding lead.
- Promote a positive, inclusive and respectful club culture.
- Ensure compliance with England Hockey safeguarding policies and Staffordshire safeguarding procedures.
- Be the first point of contact for safeguarding and welfare concerns.
- Maintain confidential safeguarding records in line with GDPR.
- Ensure appropriate DBS checks and safeguarding training are completed.
- Ensure coaches, officials and volunteers have completed the required application forms, DBS checks, safeguarding training, and signed club policies, Codes of Conduct and volunteer agreements before commencing their role.
- Support the committee with safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion policies.
- Provide welfare advice and liaise with England Hockey and Staffordshire safeguarding partners.
First Aid Responsibilities:
- Manage the club's first aid kits, ensuring they are fully stocked, accessible and in date.
- Ensure first aid kits are available at training sessions, matches and club events.
- Arrange replenishment of used or expired first aid supplies.
- Ensure accident and incident report forms are completed and retained.
- Support coaches and team managers in following emergency procedures.
- Report serious injuries or welfare concerns to the Club Committee and relevant agencies where required.
- Promote good health and safety practices across all club activities.

Reporting a Concern
If you are worried about the welfare of a child, young person or adult at risk, report the concern immediately to one of the Club Welfare Officers. If someone is in immediate danger, contact the Police on 999 before notifying the Club Welfare Officer.
